A major road in Buckinghamshire has reopened after a pair of crashes today (Thursday, October 20). Large traffic queues formed in the area as a result of an incident involving a van.

The A5 Southbound was shut in Milton Keynes following the collision between the Portway Roundabout and the Redmoor Roundabout, near Stadium:MK. There was also mile-long congestion back to the Abbey Hill Roundabout in the Bradwell Abbey area.

The incident was first reported by Inrix, the traffic data company at around 8am. The road was closed by 8.20am but reopened at around 10am.

One lane remained closed on the road while recovery work took place. National Highways said the road has been left covered in glue after the collision but reopened by 10.30am.

Inrix initially reported: "A5 Southbound closed, queueing traffic due to two accidents and shed load from A509 Portway (Portway roundabout, Buckinghamshire) to A421 Grafton Street (Redmoor Roundabout, Milton Keynes ).

"Congestion to the Abbey Hill Roundabout. Sensors confirmed the road has been closed since around 08:20."

Motorists were met with congestion and delays on the A5 in Milton Keynes earlier today (Thursday, October 20) after two crashes took place during rush hour. Here's everything we know about the incidents:

  • A5 Southbound near Central Milton Keynes closed after two crashes at around 8am
  • One lane further down the road was also closed due to a glue spill from a van involved in a collision

According to Inrix, the traffic data company, all lanes have reopened on the A5 Southbound:

All lanes open, recovery work completed on A5 Southbound from A509 Portway (Portway roundabout, Buckinghamshire) to A421 Grafton Street (Redmoor Roundabout, Milton Keynes).

Following an earlier accident, all lanes were cleared at 10:25.
